If you're ready for a Windows Mobile smartphone with a large, VGA (480 by 640 pixels) display, slide-out QWERTY keyboard, and quad-band radios for worldwide use, the Fuze is an excellent option. Can BlackBerry Bold Go Where No Smartphone Has Gone Before?
More info: http://www.digitaljournal.com/article/258878
Can the BlackBerry Bold rival the features and functionality of Apple's iPhone 3G? In light of today's Canadian launch of the fastest BlackBerry available yet, Digital Journal TV tested the new device to see if it's the summer's hottest smartphone.
Digital Journal — The BlackBerry Bold is now available in Canada, giving Canucks the first chance to try out the fastest BlackBerry device in North America. The Bold runs on Rogers' fast 3G network (the first time a BlackBerry has worked on such a network) and its speed doesn't disappoint.
Just a month after bringing Apple's iPhone 3G to Canadians (see our video review of the iPhone 3G here), Rogers Wireless partnered with Research in Motion to unveil the Bold on Thursday.
John Boynton, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, Rogers Wireless, said in a press release: "The much awaited BlackBerry Bold smartphone is a 'must have' for connoisseurs of premium products and mobile workers who want to remain connected and productive no matter where their jobs may take them."
The Bold is available for $399 on a three-year plan with Rogers.
So what's so great about the Bold? Its screen offers impressive definition and clarity housed in an elegant 114mm x 66mm x 15mm design. It runs on the 3G network as well as Wi-Fi. A built-in GPS comes with BlackBerry Maps and Documents To Go, and lets users edit Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents while travelling. 1GB of on-board memory is more than previous generations, and memory card slots can expand the storage capacity to up to 16 GB.
A 2-megapixel camera rounds out the device, and also offers video recording (unlike the iPhone 3G). Syncing music and video to the Bold via iTunes is simple, which should appeal to heavy multimedia users who want to stick with the BlackBerry brand.
Digital Journal TV was on location at the Canadian launch for the Bold, and we spoke to Research in Motion and Rogers Wireless to find out how this smartphone compares to its predecessors...and why it may elevate to iPhone-killer status. Maybe.

last100's Smartphone Parade: One Size Doesn't Fit All
At last100 [a ReadWriteWeb Network blog] , we love the iPhone as much as anyone. Yet we remain convinced that for all of Apple's innovation - especially on the mobile browsing front and major improvements in usability - the iPhone in its current incarnation will have significant but limited appeal. There's only one iPhone, and in the smartphone market, one size doesn't fit all. Case in ...

Watching Olympics Live TV on my Windows Mobile Smartphone
Windows Mobile Smartphone watching Live TV of the 2008 Olympics. Anywhere I go I will not miss any of the Olympic Games. Thanks to my Windows Mobile Smartphone advance features.
Iphone 3G can't even do this. Only thing good about the Iphone 3G is it's good looks. Has who cares of how it looks is all I see the Iphone is good at. I rather have a phone that can do many things like my Windows Mobile Smartphone.
Below are reason why Iphone 3G lacks features. Windows Mobile Smartphone has all these features for 2yrs now.
Now you know wjy they call it a Smartphone ;-)
--------------------
1. It won't perform simple computer operations such as word processing, spreadsheets, relational databases, and PowerPoint presentations
2. You can't use your own MP3 sounds to make ringtones.
3. No MMS
4. No expansion slots
5. No flash camera
6. Doesn't take videos
7. Doesn't have dual cameras for video conferences and self-portraits; you can't take screen shots either; only has 2.0 MPX
8. There's no QWERTY keyboard or even a phone keypad. Instead, it has a klutsy popup input panel. It takes average person five minutes to type my name correctly without any errors owing to my fingers being on the gorilla end of the scale. The input panel is made for fingers of a five-year old.
9. Can't even perform the simple operations of highlight, copy, cut, and paste
10. Doesn't have an eBook reader program
11. No InfraRed--can't beam files, photos, tunes, text, contacts, applications
12. Doesn't have Bluetooth 2.0
13. Can't use wireless Bluetooth headphones
14. Won't work with optical eyewear players
15. Doesn't have 802.11 g/e Wi-Fi
16. Doesn't have universal mini-USB connector for syncing and charging
17. Doesn't have real downloadable programs, only Web Apps that force you to go online to use. What if you don't want the expense of going online or there is no connection? Apple boasts 600 Web Apps. Windows Mobile has 15,000+ actual programs.
18. You can't transfer files between devices or even to a MAC with an iPhone, and there's no peer to peer connectivity possible either.
19. There's no removable battery. You have to send the unit to Apple at your own expense and suffer downtime. Wow.
20. There are no peripherals for the iPhone such as a Bluetooth keyboard, mouse, headphones, GPS, printer, scanner, hard drives, storage cards, video eyewear, or projectors.
21. There are no voice commands for viewing photos, videos, files, listening to tunes, or running applications. I really enjoy bossing my pocket concierge around with voice commands. You can't talk to iPhones; you have to poke them in the tummy with your finger to get them to do anything.
22. You can't watch and control your home TV DVR remotely from anywhere in the world
23. There's no FM or satellite radio
24. You can't use an iPhone as an extension of your desktop monitor and move the mouse and data between them.
27. Touch screen is not sensitive to a standard stylus, only a blunt instrument like a finger or a ball-peen hammer.
28. Finger gestures are crazy-making on a page with lots of hyperlinks because you cannot point precisely
29. Cannot change page transitions or animations
30. You cannot control your computer or anything else remotely with an iPhone; you can't even have the fun of using it in a bar to change the TV channels surreptitiously.
31. No programmable hardware buttons for easy control and access to such functions as volume control, camera, and digital recording.
32. No Flash for viewing websites

MG, dubbed "machine gun" by his editor Matt Marshall for his prolific writing, is one of the best tech bloggers -- he is known to many of us as Paris Lemon, for his influential personal blog. MG is one of the writers in the Digital Media channel at VentureBeat.
Last week, I caught up with MG at Stanford where he attended the Beet.TV online video roundtable. He shares his experience using a Qik-enabled smartphone to cover the recent Apple iPhone 3G launch in San Francisco.

CNET Review - HTC Touch Cruise
Editors' rating: 6.7/10
The good: The HTC Touch Cruise features integrated GPS and comes preloaded with TomTom navigation software. The Windows Mobile 6 smartphone also has Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and 3G support.
The bad: Though it includes TomTom software, you only get one city map for free; you'll have to pay extra for other regions. We were slightly disappointed by the multimedia performance, and the smartphone is expensive.
The bottom line: While the integrated GPS and TomTom navigation software makes the HTC Touch Cruise very enticing, there are some limitations, not to mention a high price tag that turned us off to the smartphone.

Nokia N77 Review Philippines
The best feature in this phone is the Mobile TV. We were really impressed with the technology, the only problem is, there aren't a lot of TV program subscriptions yet that can be bought at more affordable rates. Connectivity and functionality wise, this phone is a great buy. There really weren't any sparks with this phone especially with the design, the low internal memory and the smudgy screen. It wasn't as exciting as we thought it would be, but when it comes to functionality and reliability, this phone's a winner. This 3G Smart phone is truly a multi-faceted find. We love it for its all around balance, usability and of course, the TV. Performance wise, this phone kicked butt so if you want a fast performing, straightforward, thorough and functionality-concentrated phone, this one's for you. No bull, all performance.

Vlingo Offers Total Voice Control of BlackBerry Smartphones
Vlingo Corporation today debuted a new application for BlackBerry smartphones from Research In Motion (RIM) (Nasdaq: RIMM; TSX: RIM), offering the industry's first complete voice-powered interface based entirely on vlingo's breakthrough speech recognition technology. Available free-of-charge*, vlingo's BlackBerry application lets users send emails and text messages, search the Web, open applications (BlackBerry® Calendar, BlackBerry® Maps, etc.), dial their phones, look up contacts and even send notes to themselves - all with the power of voice.
"Just a few months ago, vlingo was selected to voice-enable Yahoo! oneSearchâ„¢, which showed the world just how quick and easy mobile Web search can be with the power of voice," said Dave Grannan, CEO of vlingo. "Vlingo takes this technology beyond Web search into everyday applications that are now instantly more usable and easier to find because you only need to think about one button and a few spoken words. Vlingo believes that we can immediately improve the way every person interacts with their wireless device and the BlackBerry platform is the perfect place to start our aggressive expansion strategy here in the U.S. and abroad."
